In the late 1990s, when handheld devices were still a new technology, Devo Consulting designed, developed and implemented a hand-held data collector for SQL Server using the Palm III. The 200 users of this application were transient dialysis nurses in Illinois, Indiana and Michigan. Each evening, the nurses connected their Palm III device to a modem and simply pushed a single button to connect to a central computer hosting the SQL Server database. The information in their Palm III was pulled out of the device and their new service schedule for the next day was placed onto the device. This process replaced a manual and/or verbal transfer of information regarding the treatments that often resulted in lost data. Once implemented, this process increased the accuracy of payroll processing and hospital billings; saving the company thousands of dollars annually.
By implementing a Content Management System (CMS) in 1998, Devo Consulting became one of the first companies to deliver the tools necessary for clients to control the content of their own website using a web-based control panel. Initially created for a publishing company in Chicago, the tools we created replaced a gigantic process of sending printed documents to their clients all over the world and saved the company over $100,000 per year in labor and other costs.
A major airline at London's Heathrow Airport needed a better way to track accounts payable information. Devo Consulting created a custom application using Microsoft Access that allowed departments to easily collect and share information amongst each other. This application lowered the amount of time needed to monitor account spending and increased compliance with company policies.
In 2008, a large publisher in Florida needed a custom application to process large CSV files being received from their client. Devo Consulting created a web-based tool that was able to parse the large files into several smaller files based on very specific criteria. This application saved the individual responsible for processing these files manually over 1000 hours per year (4 hrs/day).
